Virtual Fidelity Coaching Certification for Interactive Journaling®

About the event

Description:
This one-day virtual training helps coaches guide staff towards optimal implementation of Interactive Journaling® curriculum. It covers the six domains of the Fidelity Tool, how to measure performance, and the fundamentals of coaching skills. Coaches will practice strategies for observing staff, providing feedback, building positive relationships and supporting staff with confidence.

Prerequisites:
Complete the two-day training, Evidence-based Facilitation Skills for Interactive Journaling® prior to attending this training
Facilitate Interactive Journaling® sessions prior to attending this training (this can take place after attending the two-day training)

The following criteria are not mandatory, but can increase your likelihood of success as a coach:
2+ years in the field
Leadership skills, including as a clinical supervisor, lead counselor, or quality improvement specialist
Training in motivational interviewing (an introductory training is available on the Fidelity Platform)
Willingness to renew your certification every 12 months at a booster training, and engage regularly with the Fidelity Coach community

About the trainer

Richard Williams, Psy.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist in North Carolina and California. He has over 29 years’ experience in substance abuse treatment, correctional programming and administration in the federal prisons system. He earned her B.A. in psychology from Concord College in 1991, followed by an M.S. in clinical psychology from Augusta State University in 1994, and his Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Georgia School of Professional Psychology in 1998. Throughout his career, he has held diverse roles, including psychologist, chief psychologist, drug abuse program coordinator, residential drug abuse program coordinator, and psychology treatment program coordinator–western region. He, until his retirement from the federal prison system in November 2024, provided direct services in residential and non-residential settings and curricula development/program oversight. Overall, he has over twenty years experience in implementing, training and supervising staff in interactive journaling. His main area of expertise is behavior change related to substance use disorders and mental health treatment.
